My Head Injury Story: A New Beginning
In this post, I share my personal journey leading up to the head injury, the immediate aftermath, and the emotions and challenges I faced. It sets the stage for the blog and establishes a connection with the readers.
On Friday 13th December 1996 after going to my local GP's following an accident I had at work 9 days previously, almost cutting off my nose with a 6" stainless steel pipe.
Having just left the doctors after my nose was checked out to make sure it was healing correctly, then getting into a friends car, setting off from the junction, apparently hitting a curb and as it was an icy night, spun 360 on the opposite side of the road square onto the oncoming vehicle, who could not avoid us.
Hitting my side of the vehicle I took full impact! smashing my side of the car across to the drivers side, my head collided with the drivers head knocking him out for 2 weeks.Still trapped in the car the fire-brigade had to cut me out removing the top of the car.
One of the first people on the scene was an off duty paramedic who assessed my injuries and told them to get me to North Staffs A&E ASAP.
I suffered central dislocation of my left hip, which smashed my pelvis in 7 different places what was left of my pelvis pushed straight up through my diaphragm, damaging several organs in the process and finishing off with a fractured skull.
Full head injury comma for 16 days, my parents told I may never walk again unaided for the rest of my life.
